Making Music Comes Naturally to Them Savages

The only “Savages” currently found in Flagstaff are nothing to fear — as long as you aren’t afraid of good music, that is.

The road begins now on YDKJSports

Tune in live tonight at 7pm as we look at the NAU Ice Jacks' playoff run. We will preview the upcoming West regionals this weekend in San Jose by looking at NAU's first round opponent (San Diego St.) and we will also look every other team and match up. Also we'll take a look at college basketball, which is beginning to heat up with Selection Sunday getting even closer.

Moshing Like It's 1912

The people alive in 1912 probably never could have imagined a show like last weekend's Centennial Fist-Swinger, Flagstaff’s punk rock celebration of Arizona’s hundredth birthday. Four punk bands — Rise Like Lions, Shredface, Hear Me Out, and We Were There — put on a wild and energetic show at Tacos Locos that kept the audience moving and moshing.

Cursive Make a Chaotic Return with "I Am Gemini"

By: Matt Haynie

Over the span of nearly seventeen years, Cursive have crafted a brand of indie rock very few have been able to emulate. Singer-guitarist Tim Kasher's poignantly introspective lyrics and ragged, unrestrained voice backed by jagged guitar riffs and chaotic tempos became a staple of the band's sound. However, the band's latest two albums (Happy Hollow released in 2006 and Mama, I'm Swollen in 2009) deviated away from this style, feeling more like a loss than a step forward for the band. Now Cursive returns in top form with their ambitious seventh album I Am Gemini, presenting their songwriting in a different way than before.
