Written by Tresa Tudrick

After 149 days, millions of grieving basketball fans can now rejoice. Early Saturday morning, the NBA owners and players agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement, ending the lockout.

College Football

College football has been full of shockers and upsets this season, and Saturday night’s game between Oklahoma and Baylor was no exception. The 5th ranked Sooners were expected to win on the road and then look forward to their bout with rival and fellow one loss school Oklahoma State next week. However, that message wasn’t received as well with the 22nd ranked Baylor Bears. Baylor, who prior to this game was 0-20 against Oklahoma all-time, challenged the Sooners’ every possession and countered all scores against them with touchdowns of their own.

College Football

As the NFL passes the halfway point of its season, college football is in the final home stretch. Some of the top conferences are still wide open, and with three weeks to go before bowl games are announced, teams are leaving their 'all out' on the field. The number one ranked LSU Tigers are undefeated and seem like the only lock to make it to a BCS bowl. Oklahoma State follows closely behind, and a win over the Oklahoma Sooners in two weeks could pit them against LSU for the title. However, one-loss teams Oklahoma, Alabama, Stanford, and Oregon as well as talented Wisconsin, Georgia and Clemson teams have legitimate BCS hopes.
In a season that features a large amount of future NFL studs, it is everyone's goal to have their players go out on top before they take the next step into the pros. However the competition is fierce, and a loss at this point in the season all but destroys a team's chances to play in a significant bowl game. To say the least, the final month of this intense regular season will only get better after every snap.

With only five days to go in the season, the St. Louis Cardinals were behind the Atlanta Braves in the National League Wild Card Standings by 3 games. On the last game of the season, the Cardinals comfortably won and, in what nobody could have predicted, the Braves blew their lead, which was at one point a 9.5 game difference, propelling the Cardinals into the playoffs. They were a feel-good story that wasn’t supposed to continue, but by baseball’s wild and unpredictable logic, they made a championship run only fitting for the most prestigious parts of the history books.
