New Death Cab For Cutie Single Released: "You Are A Tourist"

This Friday marked the release of Death Cab For Cutie's new single from their upcoming album Codes and Keys. Their upcoming album, scheduled to release on May 31st 2011, has been said to be less focused on guitar, and "You Are a Tourist" is certainly an example of this. The single features a repetitive (but not monotonous) guitar riff similar to works of Modest Mouse, and harmonization that, while somewhat new for Death Cab For Cutie, seems to encompass their tone perfectly. If "You Are A Tourist" accurately represents Codes and Keys, it seems like the new album will be a perfect blend of Death Cab For Cutie's previous albums Transatlanticism and Narrow Stairs. In my opinion, the new single is some of the best work Death Cab For Cutie has put out in years.

Check out more on Death Cab For Cutie's site, where you can also stream "You Are A Tourist", and be sure to check back here on kjack.org for a full album release once Codes and Keys is out.

It's...interesting? Not sure what I think of it. Maybe I'll give it some time.
