Women's Soccer to Play Two at USC Trojan Invitational

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - After back-to-back 1-1 ties, NAU (0-2-2) looks to get into the win column this weekend with games against Cal State Fullerton (2-2-0) on Friday and USC (2-1-2) on Sunday in a tournament hosted by the Trojans in Los Angeles. The weekend will bring an end to a five-game road trip for the Lumberjacks, who will return home to begin a four-game homestand the following week.

The native of Chandler, Ariz., and Hamilton High School product was named The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS National Freshman of the Week and Division I FCS Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards on Monday.

OGDEN, Utah - Northern Arizona volleyball player Kobi Christensen was selected Big Sky Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Christensen won the Fiesta Bowl Tournament Most Valuable Player this past weekend.

Women's Soccer Loses Lead Again, Ties New Mexico State 1-1

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - NAU junior Carolyn Savage scored her first goal of the season, but for the second-consecutive game the Lumberjacks were unable to hold on to an early lead in an eventual 1-1 tie against New Mexico State. Northern Arizona is now 0-2-2 for the season while New Mexico State moved to 2-1-2.

Volleyball Claims 11th Fiesta Bowl Tournament Title, Choate Wins 300th Career Match

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - It was an historic night for Northern Arizona women's volleyball as the Lumberjacks sealed their 11th Fiesta Bowl Tournament Championship beating Maryland Eastern Shore, 3-0, at the Rolle Activity Center on Saturday. The night was coupled with Northern Arizona Head Volleyball Coach Craig Choate winning the 300th match of his career.

Cross Country Wraps Up George Kyte Classic With Men's Title

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - After spending the past seven months rehabilitating from knee surgery, Jason Pedersen was just looking forward to getting back to competing in the sport where he has had much success over the years. Pedersen did just that Saturday from Buffalo Park, as the fifth-year senior placed second overall (26:22.2) to lead the men's team to a first-place finish in the University division of the 30th George Kyte Classic.

Volleyball, Christensen Defeat Texas A&M Corpus Christi in Home Opener

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Junior Kobi Christensen totaled 20 kills with a .533 hitting percentage to lift Northern Arizona women's volleyball to its first home victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 3-1, at the Rolle Activity Center on Friday. With the win, Christensen put the Lumberjacks in contention for their 11th team title at the 18th Annual Fiesta Bowl Tournament.

Women's Soccer Loses Late Lead, Draws with Arizona 1-1

TUCSON, Ariz. - Northern Arizona had a 1-0 lead into the 88th minute, but Arizona found the equalizer with two minutes left in regulation and the game would end in a 1-1 tie. The Lumberjacks and Wildcats both moved to 0-2-1 after the in-state rivals played to a draw for the second-consecutive year.

Lumberjacks Open 2010 Cross Country Season with George Kyte Classic

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona cross country teams open its seasons Saturday with the 30th running of the George Kyte Classic. The lone home meet for the Lumberjacks takes place at Buffalo Park, with the women's 5K race set for 1:30 p.m. Arizona time, and the men's race scheduled to follow at 2:15.

Football Opens with Big Home Win Over Western New Mexico

Huber and Johnson Join Track & Field Coaching Staff

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Northern Arizona Track & Field and Cross Country Director Eric Heins announced Thursday that Mo Huber and Jacquelyn Johnson have officially joined the track and field coaching staff as graduate assistants. Huber will assist Heins with the cross country team and distance events during the track season, while Johnson will assist with the sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers.

Men's Cross Country Lands at No. 3 in USTFCCCA Preseason Poll

NEW ORLEANS, La. - With the cross country season set to begin this weekend, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) put out its first polls of the 2010 season. The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks found themselves tied at No. 3 with the University of Oregon in the men's national poll, as well as first in the Mountain Region. The women's team landed at No. 7 in the region to begin the season.
